"Art such as this is something you’ll want to experience live for the collective emotion and believe us, it is powerful." -Radio Arcane 2025
"The voice as vessel, the cello as paddle, layered found object beats as all that you care to bring with you. The songs of Sarah Green, the voice behind Silver Rein are archaic in chanting tone, hymnals propelled in the dense present by the strike of her electric cello, looped into forever. Music that is meditative in its repetitive resonance, which wades into the depths of death and isolation, yet surfaces - resilient - marching onward." - GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance
"This music actually feels within the traditions of Gothic Expressionism, Post Industrial, Neofolk and Neoclassical music and it’s not been over polished or sterilized for a more commercial appeal; praise the gods." - Dark Castle Fest
“Silver Rein is one of the most unique musical acts in post-pandemic Ithaca.” - DJ Hot Cole
“. . . a powerful woman with a presence--but none quite has all that she has . . . ” - Kate Leboff, Production Coordinator at Cornell University Press
Electric cellist and operatic enchantress, Silver Rein creates live-looped magic that explores themes of isolation, belonging, life and death through the lens of an ancient mystical realm. With soft-to-soaring vocals, medieval motifs, and cello-driven scores, her music pierces straight to the heart. Described by listeners as “transcendent,” "other-worldly," and “a spiritual experience,” Silver Rein casts spells of the ages.
Silver Rein performs and loops in real-time with an NS Design NXTa5 electric cello and Boss RC-600 loop station. Unique self-recorded backing tracks, made of a blend of electric cello, voice, and found objects, form the foundation of this larger-than-life bath of sound. Silver Rein is often joined during performances by guest vocalists and instrumentalists to transform this already full sound into a profoundly ceremonious experience.
Her voice and cello playing have been featured in numerous musical projects, including previous bands: Motherwort, Omega Defender, and The Great Confinement.
